“The Ferruz Industrial Group has been responsible for manufacturing and supplying the 19 semi-trailers that will be used for the transport and subsequent treatment and reuse of waste from the green container of 245 municipalities in the province of Zaragoza, as part of the Ecoprovincia service that has just been launched by the Zaragoza Provincial Council. These are 19 fully sealed mobile floor vehicles with a capacity of 24 tons, which will be used to transport around 80,000 tons of garbage annually from the six transfer plants to the treatment center in the capital of Aragon. The first two, in Ejea de los Caballeros and La Almunia de Doña Godina, are already operational, and they will soon be joined by four others in Quinto de Ebro, Calatayud, Borja, and Alagón.
It will be then when Ecoprovincia operates at full capacity, serving a population of around 195,000 people residing in 245 municipalities in Zaragoza for 365 days a year, after an investment of 24 million euros financed entirely by the provincial institution. The management of the transfer plants and the transport of waste to Zaragoza was awarded for 10 years to the company Actúa Servicios y Medio Ambiente.
This initiative shows that the Ferruz Industrial Group’s equipment contributes decisively to the decarbonization of the planet, as it will now be possible to separate and recycle a large amount of waste that was previously buried directly in landfills, avoiding the emission of 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year into the atmosphere.”
